For our first Telecomm assignment, we are going to practice with secure shall and secure copy on the "mars.umhb.com" server.

O.K., now to the assignment:

1. Download and install the secure shell client and secure shell copy client. These are located on the main cisc4322 web-page. Look under the pull-down menu titles (Useful Downloads, Internet)...

2. Secure shell (using putty) into the "mars.umhb.edu" server.

3. Change your password (Yes, I will check...).

4. At the Linux prompt execute the following commands:
[user@mars]$ passwd
Follow the instruction...
[user@mars user]$ logout

5. Using a browser, Navigate to your web page from the Our Pages link at http://mars.umhb.edu/.

6. Modify index.html, your name should apear here. Use your own picture file or cooltext.com. This can be accomplished by using secure copy to upload a new picture.

7. Modify aboutme.html, your picture or some other picture should appear here. This can be accomplished by using secure copy to upload a changed aboutme.html or using secure shell (putty) to modify aboutme.html. You can use nano as an editor. You may also need to use secure copy (scp) to transfer files.
